Tirzah is a singer and writer who has been long known in the post-grime scene in Southeast London. With her two defining albums Devotion and Colourgrade, she has realised her scrapbook style of affectionate song writing and garnered much adoration for her distinctively present and intimate music. Tirzah’s output speaks to foundational and massive emotion with a tender attention to the lived experience of love, motherhood, sex, familiarity and friendship. Drawing inspiration and guidance from friends and family, these relationships manifest themselves in her music, most concretely in featuring artist and co-writers such as Coby Sey and Mica Levi. Tirzah’s ability to render these enormous yet worldly emotions and concepts tangible and accessible while maintaining a degree of ambiguity, is a testament to the power of song as an exercise in empathy.
