During the first three years of Alter festival, it spread invisible threads throughout the underground of Aarhus from a common center. The abandoned municipality hospital connected a host of agents in both Denmark and internationally pulling all of them towards its transgressive center. As the county hospital has become unavailable to us, this year Alter Festival is decentralized, spread out between a number of locations. We must now establish these unseen threads throughout the city of Aarhus, knitting together all the agents and sites that help make up the festival. Each place and each thread represent a story that weaves together a grander narrative – an entity suspended between a multitude of places as a fully altered state of the festival emerge. Welcome to Alter Festival 2023.
