Visual artist and musician based in Brussels, Roxane Metayer’s work is a series of tributes to the forest, exploring the relationship between humans and the living world through various mediums such as sound, image, and sculpture. Metayer compose music that blends field recordings, acoustic instruments, and voice, creating a universe close to animal and vegetal mimicry. She has recently been working on polyphonic and spatialized sound installations, projects that have been presented in sound art venues such as Overtoon and STUK. Metayer has collaborated with other artists, most recently with the drummer Charles Dubois and Katya Shirshkova, and have led music creation workshops for young audiences. Her albums have been released on labels such as Edições, Blickwinkel, Kraak, Matière Mémoire, Morc, and Vlek, and she have performed in venues like Ancienne Belgique and Café Oto.
