Mille Ahrenkiel
Mille Ahrenkiel is a textile artist based in Aarhus who specializes in handweaving, working primarily with the pedal-operated floor loom. Through her practice, she explores how woven textiles can carry stories and connections – of cultural memory, technology, and collective heritage. Her work insists on the relevance of traditional weaving techniques in a contemporary context, highlighting the loom not only as a tool, but as a vessel for knowledge and connection.
Working from her studio in Sydhavnen, Mille is dedicated to a locally rooted production of textiles. Her commitment to craft reflects a broader engagement with the cultural significance of weaving, tracing its threads through time and across societies. At ALTER 2025, she presents a woven installation at Voxhall, where the tactile and visual qualities of the textile become a lens for understanding both our technological development and shared histories.
