Joa Kruse Lykke

Joa Kruse Lykke will be contributing to the ever-expanding collection of texts in our archival book Arkiv. Joa is a Danish writer and translator, who has studied at Kungliga Konsthögskolan in Stockholm and at Forfatterskolen in Copenhagen.

Their debut novel Et sted at være mor fra is a deeply moving text about loss, that garnered unanimously favorable reviews from the press. Lately they have translated McKenzie Wark’s Raving into Danish. Joa’s writing explores the intimacy that occurs in simplicity and repetition.

Their use of negative space in a literary setting becomes the means of conveying hidden or unspeakable emotions. All of this creates an atmosphere, where the subtlety of the everyday and overwhelming aspects of life can coexist. This year’s book will feature all of the previous texts and collect the vastly different threads. Joa’s contribution will act as fixed points through the book, and their texts will weave in and around the previous texts and create a consistent path throughout.
